Last year, one of these teams made the playoffs, while the other was the NFC’s next team out.
Although, the Seattle Seahawks (0-1) hardly resembled a playoff team in Week 1. They’ll try to regroup this Sunday and get their first win out of the way. Last year the team took down the Lions, so the blueprint is available.
However, last year’s game could be the exact motivation that the Detroit Lions (1-0) need to win another game. After taking down the defending champs on a national stage, the Lions will have a target on their back. Let’s see how they handle the pressure.
2022’s Seahawks vs. Lions game was a 48-45 shootout, in Seattle’s favor. Will 2023’s edition of Seahawks vs. Lions deliver a similar result?

Key Stats
After finishing with a top-10 passing attack last season, Seattle began this one with only 112 yards through the air. They ran the ball efficiently, gaining 4.7 yards per rush. It didn’t amount to much since they were trailing and only totaled 18 carries. The Seahawks only mustered 13 points in Week 1.
While that was happening on one side of the ball, the defense was on the field for 39:23 of the 60-minute season opener. They have up 426 yards, 334 passing, in the defeat. Seattle may have held a Rams team that doesn’t run effectively to 2.3 yards per carry but still bled 30 points.
Meanwhile, Detroit’s defense went on the road and held arguably the NFL’s most feared offense to 20 points. They limited the Chiefs to 90 yards rushing, and more impressively, 226 yards through the air. Next up for this defense is recording the first sack of the season.
On offense, Detroit found the end zone twice in the win. They finished the games with 34 rush attempts and 35 pass attempts, a truly balanced attack. The Lions finished Week 1 with the 10th-most rushing yards (118) and the seventh-most passing yards (253). Like Seattle, they are trying to be a top-10 scoring offense again.
Seahawks vs. Lions Prediction
Last year’s between these teams was decided by three points, so why not this one? Seattle is a much better unit than what was on display last Sunday. Detroit looked solid, but not dominant against the Chiefs. On paper, these teams are roughly on equal footing. Take the Seahawks to keep this within three points, at least.
