Key Stats
The Colts are getting rookie QB Anthony Richardson back for Sunday, as he missed last week’s game against the Ravens. Gardner Minshew took over in his absence, and he filled in nicely, but he’ll go back to a reserve role against the Rams. Running back Zach Moss tallied 122 yards on 30 carries last week, and he looks like he can be a weapon all year long for Indy.
The Rams’ passing defense has been decent so far, and we’ll see if they can put pressure on the rookie. Richardson has a subpar 78.2 passer rating so far, but it’s over a really small sample size. He’s also rushed for 75 total yards, in addition to his 279 yards through the air. We have to keep in mind that he’s played about one and a half games, but he is helped by having receiver Michael Pittman Jr., as well as Josh Downs and Alec Pierce.
Matthew Stafford had another rough performance versus the Bengals last week, which was his second game with two interceptions. He now has a 74.5 passer rating, but it certainly doesn’t help to have star receiver Cooper Kupp out due to injury. Rookie receiver Puka Nacua has been great in Kupp’s absence, leading the Rams in catches (30) and receiving yards (338). Tutu Atwell has already recorded 246 yards himself, and tight end Tyler Higbee has been reliable.
Kyren Williams is pretty much the only running back the Rams use, especially since they got rid of Cam Akers. Williams has rushed for 142 yards on 39 carries, and he’s expected to be a big part of this offense. The Colts have forced some big turnovers, but overall they’ve been mediocre on defense.
Los Angeles Rams vs Indianapolis Colts Betting Prediction
The Rams’ offense didn’t do much last week, but they should have a slightly better matchup versus the Colts defense. Indianapolis pulled off an impressive upset over the Ravens, but I don’t trust them to remain consistent. Take the Rams here, as they’ve covered two of three so far, with the third being a push.
