Outside of the Eagles and Vikings, every team is raring to get their second game of the season started. The wait is almost over. Week 2 games will be kicking off shortly, bringing more football to big screens. Here are the NFL best bets for the second week of the season.
NFL Best Bet #1: Chiefs @ Jaguars Over 51.0 (-110)
Kansas City had the NFL’s highest-scoring offense last season. This year, they “only” put up 21 points in Week 1, but that was without Travis Kelce. Well, he’s coming back, and the Chiefs are getting a Jacksonville squad that they scored 27 on twice in 2022.
As for the Jaguars, they finished 10th in scoring a year ago. Last week, they opened with a bang, dropping 31 on a division rival. New WR Calvin Ridley showcased how he’s going to make this offense lethal. When these teams collide on Sunday, the offenses will rule the day.
NFL Best Bet #2: Commanders @ Broncos Under 38.5 (-110)
These teams are completely different, being built on the back of strong defenses. Each team was solid last season and came back looking just as sharp in 2023. Washington’s defense only allowed nine points last week, while Denver gave up 17 points on the road.
Neither offense is one to brag about either. Each team was bottom-10 in scoring last year. Neither offense was able to top 20 points in Week 1 against subpar defenses. Don’t expect a lot of scoring in this one.
NFL Best Bet #3: Browns @ Steelers Under 38.5 (-110)
These division rivals aren’t known for their offenses either. Cleveland may have scored 24 last week, but that was also with nearly 36 minutes of possession, which will be hard to repeat. As for Pittsburgh, they only put up a measly three in Week 1. The Steelers have a playcalling problem, to say the least.
Defensively, each side is much stronger. It didn’t show for the Steelers last week, but with T.J. Watt, they can slow down any offense. Meanwhile, Cleveland held a dangerous Cincinnati offense to only three points. Projected rain in Pittsburgh won’t help either offense. Fade the offenses.
