A season that began with a ton of promise has been derailed by injuries for the Pelicans, who now sit 12th in the Western Conference. The good news is that they’re only one game behind 10th for the last play-in spot. The bad news is that 11 games are remaining and its a mosh pit in the standings.

Either the Spurs have the worst luck ever, or some of their injuries, which have taken out three of Sunday’s five starters, are a symptom of tanking. All of these guys are in the NBA and tremendous hoopers, but the Spurs are missing almost all of their quality players tonight. I can’t see this team keeping up with the Pelicans on most nights, especially not on the road.
New Orleans has already taken three from the Spurs, and I think they make it four in convincing fashion tonight. They need this game.
