The Portland Trail Blazers (33-46) are 13th in the Western Conference and all set to take on the San Antonio Spurs (20-59) at the AT&T Center on Thursday (April 6) for an All-Western Showdown.
The Trail Blazers saw a huge dip in form resulting in being out of the playoff race. They are even far away to fight for the play-in spot now. Only 2-8 in their last 10 games, the Trail Blazers had to suffer defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies (119-109) in their previous outing. The two guards, Skylar Mays and Shaedon Sharpe were the leading scorers in the game with 24 and 20 points. But it wasn’t enough in front of a strong Grizzlies side where Desmond Bane finished with 30 points and Ja Morant added another 23. Luke Kennard also had a 20-point game. Tonight’s opponents, the Spurs, have been long out of the playoff race, second to bottom in the West, and also on a 2-8 run in their last 10.
The Spurs faced a defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns (115-94) in their last outing. Devin Booker was solid for the Suns, ending with 27 points, while Chris Paul had a decent game with 22. Kevin Durant’s return from injury has seen the rise of the Suns once again. As for the Spurs, Malaki Branham was the leading scorer, ending with 21 points, followed by Tre Jones with 20.
