The Dallas Mavericks (36-38) have dropped down to 11th in the Western Conference, following a three-game losing streak as they prepare to take on the Charlotte Hornets (24-51) at the Spectrum Center on Sunday.
The Mavericks faced a disappointing defeat against the Hornets (117-109) in the first part of the doubleheader last night. Despite Doncic and Irwing playing together, the Mavericks fell short by 8 points. Doncic finished the game with 34 points while Irwing had 18 points. But it wasn’t enough as Gordon Hayward and PJ Washington ended up scoring 25 and 28 points for the Hornets. With this loss, the Mavs are now behind in the playoff race. They are only 3-7 in their last 10 games and the journey to the playoff has become increasingly difficult as the number of games left in the regular season is very few.
On the other hand, the Hornets are simply looking to end their season on a high note as they are already out of the playoff race. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games, a number which they would like to improve by the end of the regular season.
