Key Stats
Philadelphia is 1-4 on the year after defeating New York on Tuesday. Kyle Schwarber was 2 for 5 in the win, scoring a run and driving in two additional runs. Aaron Nola is the projected starter today for the Phillies. Nola pitched 3.2 innings in his last outing, giving up four hits and allowing five runners to score. Nola walked two and struck out four in the loss to Texas. He is currently 0-0 on the year with a 12.27 ERA. The Phillies are off to a rocky start but secured their first win of the season yesterday. We will see if they can build off that win or if they will continue to struggle.
The Yankees are 3-2 on the year after losing yesterday. DJ LeMahieu was 1 for 4, hitting a solo home run to give New York their only score of the game. Today, Gerrit Cole will get the start. Cole pitched 6.0 innings in his last outing and is 1-0 on the year. He gave up three hits, struck out 11 and allowed no runs. Cole can shut down opposing teams and will look to help New York clinch the series today.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Yankees: Game Prediction
This Yankees lineup can be lethal at the plate. With Nola struggling, it could be a long day for the Phillies. Gerrit Cole is on an absolute tear, and even with the talent Philadelphia has, it will be hard to find hits and runs. Vomlpe made a few costly mistakes yesterday, and while he has been solid for the most part, errors will not sit well with the fans. Today’s game is a pretty even matchup, but Cole on the mound swings things in favor of New York. Give me Cole at home in this one. I am digging the spread. I don’t think the Phillies can muster much offense against Cole.
