The regular season may be winding down, but teams are still bringing their best every day. Everyone has something to play for when they put on the uniform. There are a few great games on the schedule, but these three plays are the MLB best bets today.
MLB Best Bet #1: New York Yankees -1.5 (+160)
The Yankees are having arguably their worst season since the new millennium began. Yet, they’re still a .500 team and have one of the brightest spots in all of sports. That would be starting pitcher Gerrit Cole, who is jockeying for his first-ever Cy Young award in 2023.
Cole has tossed 11.2 shutout innings against Toronto this season. His last five starts have all been Yankees wins, too. He’s backed by one of baseball’s best bullpens, also. Ride Cole and the New York pitching staff to a multi-run win tonight.
MLB Best Bet #2: Washington Nationals +1.5 (+140)
Washington may have clinched another losing season already, but they’ve won three of their last four games. Atlanta has MLB’s best record, but they’ve lost five of their previous six. Don’t be surprised if the Nationals give Atlanta a tough time tonight.
Atlanta allowed six or more runs in each of those defeats, which bodes well for the Nationals offense. Washington starter Jake Irvin’s last five home starts have produced a 2.48 ERA. Expect a competitive battle.
MLB Best Bet #3: Mets @ Phillies Over 8.5 (-115)
Both of these offenses have been swinging well recently. In their past 10 games, the Phillies have scored at least five runs on eight occasions. The Mets have hit the five-run mark in five of their past 10.
Each club is averaging at least 5.00 runs per game in September. This pitching matchup features David Peterson (7.35 road ERA) and Ranger Suarez (4.94 home ERA) as the starters. Anticipate runs early and often.
