The 2023 MLB regular season continues on Wednesday, September 13th, with all 30 teams in action. Here’s a look at three strong bets for today’s matchups featuring the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks.
MLB Best Bet #1: San Diego Padres ML (+120)
The 68-78 San Diego Padres will face the 88-56 Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres will give the ball to Blake Snell, who is 13-9 with a 2.52 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 29 starts this season. Snell is the betting favorite to win the National League Cy Young Award as he is sixth in the NL in wins, second in ERA and second in strikeouts. He has not allowed more than three earned runs in an outing in four months. In 20 starts over that stretch, Snell is 12-3 with a 1.40 ERA and 161 strikeouts. Look for him to continue to pitch well as the Padres win this one outright.
MLB Best Bet #2: Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-109)
The 95-50 Atlanta Braves will face the 79-66 Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves will give the ball to Spencer Strider, who is 16-5 with a 3.83 ERA and 250 strikeouts in 28 starts this season. Strider has been among the best pitchers in the National League as he leads all of baseball in wins and strikeouts while ranking 14th in the NL in ERA. Meanwhile, Atlanta leads the league in runs scored while ranking sixth in ERA. Look for them to move closer to locking up home field advantage throughout the postseason as they win by at least two runs.
MLB Best Bet #3: Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 (+120)
The 76-70 Arizona Diamondbacks will face the 66-78 New York Mets. The Diamondbacks will give the ball to Zac Gallen, who is 15-7 with a 3.31 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 30 starts this season. Gallen has been among the best pitchers in the National League as he ranks third in wins, fifth in ERA and fifth in strikeouts. Meanwhile, the Mets have been among the biggest disappointments in baseball. Look for Arizona to win by at least two runs.
