There are 15 MLB games today, providing us with plenty of bets to make. Below, we’ll go through the best bets from today’s MLB slate this Saturday, April 8.
MLB Best Bet #1: Kodai Senga Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-125)
Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets Match Details
Fixture: Miami Marlins @ New York Mets
Date & Time: Saturday, April 8, 4:10 p.m. EDT
Venue: Citi Field, Flushing, New York
Kodai Senga signed a five-year, $75 million contract with the Mets this offseason, and the Japanese sensation didn’t disappoint in his major league debut. Senga faced the Marlins in Miami, going 5 1/3 innings, surrendering just one run, and striking out eight. Now, he’ll face the Fish, but this time at home. Senga was able to easily navigate the Marlins lineup last time out and during his career in Japan, where he struck out 10.0 batters per nine innings. Expect the Mets’ new pitcher to punch out at least six in his home debut.
MLB Best Bet #2: Los Angeles Dodgers Team Total Over 5.5 Runs (+105)
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Fixture: Los Angeles Dodgers @ Arizona Diamondbacks
Date & Time: Saturday, April 8, 8:10 p.m. EDT
Venue: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona
Tonight, the Dodgers match up against Zach Davies, who pitched pretty well against them last weekend. Davies tossed five innings of one-run ball, but in his Diamondbacks career, he’s struggled against LA. Last season, the Dodgers were able to knock Davies out early in three of five starts, and overall he posted a 5.82 ERA against them in 2022. The Dodgers haven’t hit that well this series, but in the opening series in LA vs. Arizona, they scored 19 runs total. Given their history against Davies and the fact that this Dodgers team is fully healthy, expect them to put up six tonight.
MLB Best Bet #3: Matt Chapman Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130)
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Los Angeles Angels Match Details
Fixture: Toronto Blue Jays @ Los Angeles Angels
Date & Time: Saturday, April 8, 9:07 p.m. EDT
Venue: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, California
Matt Chapman has been red hot for the Blue Jays this year, currently riding a six-game hitting streak and hitting .452. Chapman’s hitting numbers haven’t been great over the last few seasons, but he does tend to get hot from time to time. Tonight, he’ll face lefty Reid Detmers, and he’s 6-for-12 off lefties this season. Chapman is expected to bat fifth tonight, and he should be able to remain productive.
