Merrill Kelly will again oppose Dustin May as he did in his first start. Then, Kelly threw 3.2 shutout innings but surrendered three hits and walked four. The former KBO star enjoyed his best season as a pro last year, going 13-8 with a 3.37 ERA in 200.1 innings. He parlayed his success by joining Team USA in the WBC this spring.
It’s been tough sledding for Kelly against the Dodgers for his career. He is 0-9 with a 5.64 ERA and a 1.627 WHIP. However, Kelly has been much more stable at home, pitching to a 3.35 ERA in 295.2 innings. The Arizona native is 6-5 with a 3.65 ERA in the season’s first month.
