The Cleveland Guardians (4-2) and the Oakland Athletics (2-3) will wrap up a three-game set on Wednesday afternoon. The Guardians outslugged the A’s on Monday 12-11 but got walked off last night in a 4-3 loss. Oakland’s Tony Kemp slapped a walk-off single into right field off Cleveland’s James Karinchak. The A’s bullpen was fantastic, tossing 4.1 scoreless frames in the win.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Oakland Athletics: Pitching Matchup
Hunter Gaddis will get the ball against the Athletics on Wednesday. Gaddis was battered in his season debut last week, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk in 3.2 innings. Gaddis is a career 0-2 with a 15.55 ERA in the MLB. He is 13-20 with a 3.90 ERA in 251.2 minor league innings.
Gaddis has never faced the Oakland Athletics during his short professional career, but his earned run average could be better against everybody. Instead, he has gotten shelled all over, but at least his ERA on the road (9.82) isn’t in the double digits like it is at home. His numbers could be better in the pros, and they could have been better in the minors too.
Kyle Muller will toe the slab for the Athletics on Wednesday. Muller, a former farmhand of the Braves, came over to Oakland in the Sean Murphy deal. The 6’7, 250-pound lefty is a top 100 prospect in baseball and was brilliant in his team debut last week, tossing five innings of one-run ball. He made 11 starts for Atlanta from 2021-22 but needed help finding consistency in their hyper-competitive rotation.
Muller’s lone start in Oakland came last week, and he has never faced the Cleveland Guardians before Wednesday. However, he was 31-22 with a 3.18 ERA and 9.8 K/9 in 541 minor league innings. He was successful at all levels, never having an ERA above 3.40. The former second-round pick will look to build upon an excellent season debut.
Guardians vs. Athletics: Betting Prediction
The Athletics are putrid outside a few key pieces, but I like Kyle Muller in this game. He is easily the best pitcher, and Oakland may be the ballpark he needs to thrive. It isn’t a smart strategy in the long run, but I’ll take the Athletics in this one.
