As if yesterday’s doubleheader wasn’t enough, these NL East clubs will face off again tonight.
The Atlanta Braves (94-50) won the first of those battles yesterday afternoon. Owners of MLB’s top record, the Braves have already secured their postseason spot. Next up on the list is locking down the league’s best record.
For the Philadelphia Phillies (79-65), the win in game two last night was necessary. 2022’s NL Pennant winners are still fighting for their spot in this October’s postseason. A few teams are still in contention behind them, waiting for Philadelphia to fall apart.
Each of these clubs is eyeing a deep October. Facing each other is a great test, especially after last year’s playoff series. Check out game three of Braves vs. Phillies before the first pitch tonight.

Starting Pitchers
Lefty ace Max Fried will be first for Atlanta’s pitching staff. In 36.1 road innings, Fried has a 1.73 ERA. The Braves have won all seven of his starts in away games.
Philadelphia will counter with Zack Wheeler tonight. He’s faced Atlanta once this season, tossing 8.0 shutout innings in that winning start. Wheeler has a 2.45 ERA in his past five outings.
Braves vs. Phillies Prediction
Zack Wheeler may have shut down this Atlanta lineup once, but not many pitchers are capable of containing MLB‘s most dangerous offense twice. Meanwhile, Max Fried has proved untouchable nearly every time he takes the mound as a visitor. In the bullpen, the Braves have an edge, too. Expect Atlanta to win another game with ease tonight.
