The Prairie View A&M Panthers will take on the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils on Monday in a Southwestern Athletic Conference clash. Prairie View is just 10-17 overall, but they are a respectable 7-3 at home. MVSU is only 4-24, and they’re an awful 1-18 on the road, where they’ve played the majority of their games. Both teams have had rough seasons so far, but Prairie View did top MVSU a few weeks ago, so the hosts will have a good chance to sweep the season series tonight.

Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils vs. Prairie View Panthers Key Stats
MVSU is one of the worst offensive teams in the country, as they score only 87.9 points per 100 possessions and shoot an awful 40.1% from the field. Terry Collins leads the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game, but he shoots just 33.5% from the field, which has hurt the team. Rayquan Brown has had a decent season, chipping in with 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds, but overall the Delta Devils have terrible shot selection. The fact that no player even averages two assists per game is a huge concern, and at this point, it can be declared a lost season for MVSU.
On defense, the visitors give up a whopping 109.9 points per 100 possessions, while opponents shoot just under 47% from the field. They were able to hang with Prairie View the last time these two met, but it might be more difficult this time around on the road.
Prairie View isn’t much better than MVSU offensively, as the Panthers shoot a rough 29.3% from downtown and 40.8% overall. Will Douglas (13.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG) and Yahuza Rasas (11.1 PPG, 6.6 RPG) have stood out for the hosts, and Rasas, in particular, has been very effective lately. The Panthers’ defense has been a lot better than their offense, as they do manage to hold teams to 42.6% shooting, and in conference play, they’ve been able to force a lot of turnovers. Tonight, Prairie View’s defense should look to put a lot of pressure on the visitors as they look for their third straight home victory.
Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils vs. Prairie View Panthers Betting Prediction
As bad as MVSU has been, they’ve gone 18-10 against the spread. The Delta Devils have never been favored this year, but they’ve actually performed well ATS as double-digit underdogs. In these contests, they’ve gone 7-3 ATS and will look to at least be competitive tonight. Prairie View is much more talented on paper, but their offensive inconsistency has been a main weakness this season. MVSU has covered four of their past five, and they’ve always shown up against Praire View in recent history, so back the visitors to cover here.
Prediction: Mississippi Valley State +11 (-110)
