Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees start a three-game series in the Bronx on Monday evening. The Yankees are coming off a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants. New York shut out San Francisco 6-0 yesterday. Jhony Brito went 5.0 innings for the Yanks, giving up two hits and no runs. He walked one and struck out six batters. The Phillies were swept by Texas, losing 2-1 on Sunday. Bailey Falter went 5.1 innings for Philly, giving up seven hits and two runs. He also struck out three batters and didn’t walk anyone.
The Yankees are off to a hot start, while Philadelphia needs to right the ship and get in the win column. Will New York be able to make it another sweep, or will the Phillies bounce back?

Key Stats
New York has started the season 3-0 and is coming off a 6-0 win over San Francisco. Six different batters were able to get on the scoresheet against the Giants. Oswaldo Cabrera went 2 for 4, while Giancarlo Stanton collected two RBIs. Nestor Cortes is the probable starter today for New York. Cortes was 12-4 last year with a 2.44 ERA. He pitched 158.1 innings and struck out 163 batters. Cortes gets his first start of the season and is looking to replicate his last season’s success.
Philadelphia has started the season poorly and is 0-3 after losing 2-1 to the Texas Rangers on Sunday. This Philly team is loaded, but they still need to secure their first win of the season. Trea Turner, Edmundo Sosa and Bryson Stott all had two hits yesterday but couldn’t find a way to score. Taijuan Walker is the probable starter for Philadelphia today. Walker went 12-5 last year with a 3.49 ERA, pitching 157.1 innings and striking out 132 batters. His first start of the year will come against a Yankees team firing on all cylinders. Can Philly find a way to beat New York, or will they remain winless?
Game Prediction
The Phillies are a good team, so don’t let their rough start fool you. Walker was solid last year on the mound, and if Philadelphia can find a way to produce runs, this will be an exciting series. Cortes is the better pitcher in this one, and New York has been solid at the plate to start the year. Both teams can hit, but Philly hasn’t been able to produce runs, and against the Yankees, that is a losing recipe. I am rolling with the Bronx Bombers in this one. The level they are playing at will be too much for Philly to compete with.
